Mascletà - March 10th, 2008
Written by valencia blog
The Mascletà situation over the weekend was rather confusing. On Saturday the regularly scheduled 2pm one at the Plaza de l’Ayuntamiento didn’t happen. And all Valencia seemed to know about the cancellation, except us.
As fas as I understood, it was canceled because of the recent ETA assassination. Or am I wrong?
Then we read in the official Fallas guide that there’d be a "Gran Mascletà - Aréna Napolitana" same day at 6pm - so we went all the way out to Playa de las Arenas and… nothing again. Probably canceled for the same reason.
Oh well! Sunday afternoon we were late and the video didn’t turn out well because we stood too far away. And after midnight on Sunday, we were woken up by the booming of another mascletà - probably the one they canceled on Saturday!
But now we’re back on track.
