Bar el Chaflán will not win a Michelin Star but if you’re in the Grau area and looking for a cheap menú del dia off the beaten track, you’ve come to the right place. An elderly couple led us to it after we’d been asking around for a good place to eat. They’ve been going there every day for 3 years now and are loving it.

The place was small and full, and we were lucky to get the last table. The atmosphere is busy, loud, smoky and full of Spanish atmosphere and you can tell the bar is family run.

The food is classic Spanish and really good and the Paella Valenciana was exactly how it’s supposed to be:

I can’t remember how much it exactly was but the menú was either 7 or 7,50 Euros and included 2 plates, bread, wine, dessert and café. You can’t even beat that by cooking at home.

You and Juergen had better have learned how to cook some Spanish food during the past year for your visit to the States. Especially the wine.

Yum. The egg dish looks divine. I’m hungry.
