Valencia Fashion Week

One of the greatest things about Valencia is that it’s not all that fashionable. I mean that in the best way possible — the people walking up and down Calle La Paz are certainly stylish and always look good, but there’s not an over-abundance of “hip” fashion criminals polluting the streets, as there is in cities like New York or Berlin. The few self-conscious hipsters that you do encounter are almost always tourists.

But here comes Valencia Fashion Week to change all that. On the 8th, 9th and 10th, designers such as Alex Vidal and José Zambrando will be highlighting their new styles at Feria Valencia and L’Umbracle. Fashion Week is a curious name for an event that lasts all of three days, but then again… “Fashion isn’t about coherence, dahhling! Accurate nomenclature is boring.”.

As a parallel activity, a “Fashion Square” will be installed at the Plaza de Pinedo, near the Colón metro station. There will be a photo shooting every day, and the public will even have the chance to try on some of the new designs and have their own pictures taken. Sounds interesting.
