New Year’s Mascletà 2010
Written by valencia blogValencia doesn’t celebrate New Year’s Eve with a ton of fireworks or a large event of any sort, which is completely out of character for this otherwise gunpowder obsessed, partying city. But for a few minutes on New Year’s Day, enough noise is generated to make up for it.
The New Year’s Mascletà, held on the Paseo Alameda at 2pm, January 1st, is traditionally the year’s largest. We braved roaring winds (which were knocking trees down) to attend, this very short but very sweet mascletà. Only 3 minutes long, but man. The winds actually made it a lot more dramatic, as huge clouds of smoke came racing towards us during the insane conclusion.
Check out the cop at the end of the video… slackjawed (minute 1:34), even he can’t believe it!
