Wow – someone must have invested a lot of money in this palace, on Calle Quart. I saw some pictures of its previous condition and have to say, the owners have done an incredible job, fixing it up for use as a short term vacation rental. The most incredible thing is its price: €740 per night, for a max of 10 people, in September. So if you can get 9 friends together, you’ll be paying just €74 apiece. That’s less than most hotels, to stay in an amazing palace in the hottest spot of Valencia. Incredible!!!

Na Jordana’s monument impressed most in the evening hours, when its haunted mansion and creepy figures were lit up and given an extra air of spookiness.

The motto this year was “Pelqueveigesticboig”, which I’m not even going to try and translate. Na Jordana is most well-known for its sense of humor. Consistent front-runners for the prize rewarding wit and ingenuity, they took it home again this year. Their monument was dedicated to insanity, a theme which provides ample comic opportunity. Dancing pigs and elephants atop a street light, a huge cow dragging her udders across the ground, and the highlight: Dr. Jeckyll’s conversion into Mr. Hyde.

7th place is probably a disappointment for the Na Jordana commission, but their monument was a lot of fun, and they should be proud of it. It’s become one of the monuments we most look forward to.

What little troopers! The kids marching in this morning’s Cant d’Estorta had to brave the nasty weather which has put a real damper on Fallas.  From the warmth of a cozy cafe, we watched cute, shivering children re-enact famous scenes from history. "Brrrr", I thought, eating my piping hot patatas bravas, "those poor, freezing, ADORABLE kids!"

Many of the mini-floats were great, but we especially loved the hot air balloons. Good job kids!  It’s never too young to learn that art is all about suffering and misery.

This is a privileged location in the famous Barrio del Carmen where you will encounter all the historic sites within short walks from the apartment, such as the cathedral, the Quart and Serranos Towers, the Central Market, and the Lonja de la Seda. Great restaurants, cafes, shops and nightlife abound in the area.

The 5th edition of Valencia.Art, a festival celebrating Contemporary Valencian art, is set to take place in the Centro del Carmen (location) on the first four days of October.

This is the first time that the festival isn’t being held in a hotel, and the stunning grounds of the Carmen Center definitely represent a step up.

29 galleries from around Spain and Portugal will have stands set up around the center. Entrance is free.
