Valencia 3 – Osasuna 0

Sunday afternoon. The sun was shining bright, and it felt like Spring had finally arrived. What better way to ring in the long-awaited new season, than a trip to the Mestalla?

The good guys were in fine form and, despite a listless first half, managed to put three goals into the net. The first was a ridiculous heel kick by Joaquin, that caught everyone off guard. Villa sealed the deal in the final moments of the game with two scores, the second a penalty.

With the victory, Valencia goes 8 points clear of Sevilla & Mallorca, and has all but sealed up 3rd place and a berth in next year’s Champions League. What a turn-around after the terrible season last year!

Thursday, los Che are traveling to Madrid to battle Atlético in the Europa League. It’ll be a tough match; the first game in Valencia was a 2-2 tie, meaning Atlético now has the advantage.
