Let the Beach Season Begin!

We finally got the weather one expects from Valencia: bright sun & pure blue skies. It’s already worth heading to the beach, even though the water is still way too cold to bear for any longer than 10 seconds. At least for me.

So pack up some bocadillos and head either over to Malvarrosa or El Saler (or surrounding beaches) and enjoy the Mediterranean. Don’t forget the sun cream!!! Even if it’s windy and chilly, you can still get a serious sunburn.

Here are a couple of pictures I took on trips to Las Arenas beach and El Saler:

Valencia: Spain’s Best Climate?

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

Does Valencia enjoy the best climate in Spain? These past few days, the region seems like it could take the European title!

Weather alerts in Spain; Green = Good (http://www.meteosat.com/alertas/)

As the rest of the continent has been hammered by vicious snow and rain, Valencians have been able to stroll their streets in sweaters and sunglasses. I took a siesta in the sun yesterday, for heaven’s sake. And to think… we nearly moved to Bilbao.

The average maximum temperature in February is 17° Celsius (62.6 F). But, more than the temperature, it’s the sun’s stubborn insistence on shining that truly makes the weather here tough to beat. 300 days of sunshine a year is the generally accepted number.

The weather… just another reason to love this city.

Best time to come to Valencia to take pictures

In the last couple of days we have seen a couple of very spectacular sunsets & sunrises. The sun hovers over the horizon longer than usual and the air is so clean and crisp, casting a light which usually only exists in paintings. So if you’re a photographer, I recommend the time between late January and February to pay Valencia a visit.

Here are some more pictures I’ve taken in the last few days (before the rain started)
